We celebrated our 5th Anniversary!

The National House Project celebrates their 5-year anniversary as a charitable organisation working closely with local authorities and supporting care leavers across the country.

The National House Project, (NHP), welcomed Local House Projects (LHPs), care leavers, colleagues from across the social care sector and partner organisations to celebrate their 5th year as a charitable organisation.

NHP was established as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) in August 2018, with its main purpose to provide support and expertise to local authorities around the country to set up and manage LHPs to enable young people to leave care in a planned and supported way,

Over the course of the five years NHP has changed its focus from independence to interdependence, with a strengthened commitment to community and belonging, believing that this will provide the bedrock of delivering the vision of young people living ‘connected and fulfilling lives’.

The celebrations took place at Freight Island in Manchester, enjoyed by 200 young people, staff, consultants, partners and fundraisers from across the UK; who came together to reflect upon the great work from young people and staff that have made and continue to make NHP such a success.

NHP CEO, Mark Warr commented:

“It was a privilege to open NHPs 5th Birthday Party. Whilst much has been achieved by the charity the greatest success has been the relational approach that has developed a real sense of community in which young people and professionals contribute equally to making NHP what it is. This was evident at the party as young people, staff, partners, consultants and funders caught up with friends, made new connections and made memories together. NHP is a community in which everyone belongs.

We look forward to the future and as we scale we remain committed to ensuring that the ‘house project spirit’ drives what we do and that each and every young person is given the opportunity to belong to something that supports and enables them to succeed."
